CoGro Discussion Qs - Jesus Wept

  1. Why do we feel like we need to hide our emotions? Can you remember an instance where you felt like you had to hide how you were feeling but found out later that you didn't?

  2. Jesus wept, which means that weeping is a right and proper thing--both for men and for women. Why are so many people embarrassed to cry? What does this say about the value our culture places on strength and appearances? How might this actually make us weaker in the long run?

  3. Many Christians have the reputation of pretending to be ok, and not without some reason. What about our beliefs and the atmosphere of the church makes us feel like we have to "be okay"?

  4. While the sermon's main point is that we should not feel the need to hide our emotions, what might some instances be where acting on or venting our emotions might be uncalled-for, or even sinful? Where does anger fit in, if at all? What does James 1:19-20 have to say about it?
