Evening Prayer

Scripture: All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the Lord, and all the families of the nations shall worship before you. For kingship belongs to the Lord, and he rules over the nations. (Psalm 22:27-28)

The work of Jesus is about bringing the nations to worship God. John Piper once wrote that “mission exists because worship doesn’t.” That is, God’s mission is to bring all peoples of the earth to worship him as king along with all of creation—from the greatest to the least. As the people of God who have already been brought into the kingdom, we have the confidence that God will do this—even with our feeble efforts.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for calling me up into your mission to bring the nations to serve you and to make your name known in all the earth. I pray that you would make use of my efforts today, that the seeds that were planted and the water that was poured out—cause your fruit to grow. Grant that I might rest now for the night from my labors, trusting that, as I labor in your vineyard, that you will be faithful to your word. Amen
