Morning Prayer

Scripture: Oh sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things! His right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him. The Lord has made known his salvation; he has revealed his righteousness in the sight of the nations. He has remembered his steadfast love and faithfulness to the house of Israel. All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God. (Psalm 98:1-3)

God does not keep to himself, but wants his name to be known throughout the whole world. And why? Because he wants to work his salvation into every fiber of the universe, beginning with his creatures made in his image. His mission is driven by his love for us. Isn’t that worth rejoicing over?

Prayer: Lord, it’s so easy for us to be cynical or even to despair at the state of the world around us. But you are working your salvation even now, and you will continue because your love never fails. Help us keep that in the center of our view today. And put a new song in our mouths that we might sing your praises. Amen.
