Daily Devotional

Scripture: Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. (Matthew 6:11-12)

We live by the moment-by-moment provision of God. He upholds the universe with his righteous right hand. If he were to remove his active presence, all of this would cease to exist. Not only do we need daily provision of food, shelter, water, and so on, we also need the existential grace of God’s forgiveness, the moment-by-moment provision of Christ’s blood. That is the reality in which we live. How can we hold a sin against another?

Prayer: Father, thank you that you have forgiven us in Christ and that his sacrifice applies to us continually, moment by moment, hour by hour. Teach us to live from that place consciously, that our whole disposition would be one of forgiveness. And may that posture evidence your grace in my life to those who need it most.
