Subject: O righteous Father, even though the world does not know you, I know you, and these know that you have sent me. I made known to them your name, and I will continue to make it known, that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them. (John 17:25-26)

Jesus wants for us to share in the love that he has with his heavenly Father, a love which distinguishes us from the world. That is, he wants us to know the Father and to know the Son (and to know the Spirit, the Helper he spoke about in 14:26). His final words to his Father here are for us to know that love and to participate in it, and to be changed by it.

Prayer: Lord, teach me what it means to participate in the love you share with the Father. Grant that I could be made more and more aware of that love, and that my life would reflect the peace of God that comes from the unity of God. Amen.
