Advent Devo 5

Verse: “Then you shall say to Pharaoh, ‘Thus says the Lord, Israel is my firstborn son, and I say to you, “Let my son go that he may serve me.” If you refuse to let him go, behold, I will kill your firstborn son.’” (Exodus 4:33-23)

Meditation: The firstborn son was the son of privilege and the most favored son. What an extraordinary thing that God would take his people to be his firstborn! And so we are, children according to the promise, through faith.

Prayer: Father, we pray that you would help us to see the extraordinary privilege that we have in Jesus, that we would be counted sons and daughters of the living God. Please grant us that we would value this rightly and that we would model it for our children. We pray that they, too, might know the joys of being sons and daughters of the Most High.
