Advent Devo - Day 8

Verse: And Hannah vowed a vow and said, “O Lord of hosts, if you will indeed look upon the affliction of your servant and remember me and not forget your servant, but will give to your servant a son, then I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life, and no razor shall touch his head.” (1 Samuel 1:11)

Meditation: The Lord remembered Hannah’s prayers and she gave birth to a son named Samuel. God delights to hear our prayers and even to grant us our desires beyond what we could dream of. Samuel would go on to be the greatest judge in Israel’s history. And all because of the prayers of his mother. Our prayers are not at all wasted on our children—even those who are yet to be born.

Prayer: Father, we pray that you would bless the motherless with children even as we pray that you would bless our children with life and peace and an inheritance in your kingdom. We know that nothing is too great for you. And so grant us that our children would delight to serve you all the days of their lives. Even bring revival in their generation! Amen.
