Scripture: Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. (Psalm 51:10)

We often believe that what we really need is to reform our habits—to make good choices and to stop doing sinful things. But the reality is, our sin is birthed at the heart-level where we can’t reach. But God can. And he does. This is the place where God’s work gets done.

Prayer: Lord, I open my heart to you. Please do your work in me. Renew me at the deepest levels and cleanse me in my inner being. I know that I can’t change myself. So have mercy, Lord, and grant me repentance and renewal. I want to be like Jesus.
