Scripture: Pray then like this: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. (Matthew 6:9-10)

We are as princes in Jesus’ estimation, calling the God of the universe our very own Father. As such, we are meant to be about our Father’s business here on earth, seeking his kingdom and his righteousness. These are our first priorities. But Jesus shows us, too, that we cannot bring this about by force of will or strength of desire. Instead, we must pray that God would do his work in the world.

Prayer: Father, we want to see the fullness of your kingdom in this place. We want to see justice reign and we want to see your name being held holy rather than taken in vain. Lord, let us be witnesses to your light and life. And teach us to live according to your will after the likeness of Jesus Christ, your only Son, our Savior.
