Scripture: Now they know that everything that you have given me is from you. For I have given them the words that you gave me, and they have received them and have come to know in truth that I came from you; and they have believed that you sent me. (John17:7-8)

Jesus is the prime missionary, the first ambassador sent by God to announce the arrival of the kingdom, the good news that transforms the world. To receive Jesus and his words is to be transformed into a citizen of heaven, an ambassador of the kingdom of God here on earth. And so to receive Jesus is to participate in that mission with God. Because when you have received Jesus as God’s missionary, you yourself become an everyday missionary.

Prayer: Father, we receive Jesus Christ into our midst. We recognize that he comes from you and that his word is your command. We honor him as Lord and Savior. And we pray that you might renew our minds and transform our hearts so that we might become everyday missionaries.
