Evening Prayer

Scripture: How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” (Romans 10:15)

God has ordained that his church be the arm of his mission. The church does not have a mission; the mission of God has a church. And the church’s primary task is to speak the good news of the gospel—to one another and to the world. For without those who will speak the good news, who will come to belief?

Prayer: Lord, the business of the day shows us that your mission cannot be accomplished by any one person. Instead, it is your will working through your church. Lord, there are so many even in my own life who haven’t heard your name, not to mention those across the world. Father, would you raise up a fresh wave of missionaries, of sent-ones into the world to bring the good news. And Father, would you make me an everyday missionary, that my words and life might reflect the good news I am to proclaim. Amen.
