Evening Prayer: Eritrea

Christians who are not a part of state-sanctioned denominations are subject to persecution by the government, including imprisonment and forced labor. Some have been held captive for more than a decade for being “agents of the West” and threats to the state.

PRAYER: Father we pray that you would turn the hand of President Isaias Afwerki to set free our Christian brothers and sisters who have been jailed for worshiping according to their conscience. We pray against corruption in Eritrea and the work of the evil one to enslave government officials to their own passions and interests. Grant our brothers and sisters a double portion of your Spirit, that they might patiently endure hardship with the joy of knowing that God has not forgotten them and that there is a room for them in your house. (For further prayer, see Psalm 26.)
