Lenten Devo #15—For the Earth Will Be Filled

For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. (Habakkuk 2:14)

A glorious day is coming when we will not have to teach our neighbor to follow the Lord, and where the Great Commission has been fully realized. The good news will have been heard and received in all the earth.

But that day will not come from nothing. Instead, God wants to make use of us right here, right now. The way that knowledge of God will spread throughout the earth is the people of God will go throughout the earth and tell of it. More than that, we will live it out in the seeing of others, showing them what it means to know God.

The knowledge that one day it will be complete, that God has declared it to be so, is meant to encourage us to take up the mission all the more fervently. For we know that in the grand scheme of things, we cannot but succeed.

So then, let us be bold in our witnessing, anticipating not that our words would fall on deaf ears, but that they would be received.

And be bold in your prayers, too, for those who don't know Jesus. For God desires that knowledge of him would cover the whole of the earth.

Who are you praying for?
