Morning Prayer

Scripture: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. (Matthew 6:9-10)

We are often focused on the provision that God gives to us, focused on what we need. But Jesus teaches us to pray first for God’s glory and rule in our lives and in the whole world. God is worthy of honor and glory, and his rule is a justified and righteous rule. Jesus is teaching us to set our minds on God and to let God take care of us.

Prayer: Lord, it’s so easy for us to have our minds set on us. As we go out into the day, turn our minds away from ourselves and towards you and your kingdom come. Let us be kingdom-minded and kingdom-focused. And teach us to honor your name so that your name might be honored among those who do not yet believe. Amen.
