Morning Prayer

Scripture: “It is too light a thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob and to bring back the preserved of Israel; I will make you as a light for the nations, that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth.” (Isaiah 49:6)

God’s glory means including more people—more people in his plan of salvation, more people experiencing his joy, more lives changed and hearts renewed. He is a big picture God and we are a big picture people. But each of us has our own small part to play. Our job is not to be a light to the world by ourselves, but to be one small flame that adds to the great fire burning at the heart of the Church across the globe and across time.

Prayer: Lord, help me to be a light to my neighbor that I might be a light to the world. Your plan for salvation is so much bigger than just me; but you make room for me to labor meaningfully in your vineyard. Help me to count it as a privilege and not a burden. And grant that my humble light will shine with the power of your Spirit, even today. Amen.
