Morning Prayer

Scripture: And he said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things." (Luke 24:46-48)

The disciples were witnesses to the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. They saw him with their own eyes. That testimony has been handed down through each generation and continues today. It is the testimony of the forgiveness of sins and the way back to God through repentance and through the blood of Jesus on the cross. And so we are apostles (“sent-ones”) after the Apostles.

Prayer: Lord, you have written that I should be a “sent-one,” an apostle to my neighbor and to the nations. Help me to orient my life in that direction today. Help me to be a witness to what has been passed down to me, the great message of salvation in Jesus. Amen.
