Evening Prayer

Scripture: And he said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.” (Luke 24:46-47)

The main issue in the human condition is our relationship with God. Because God is the source of all of life, being alienated from God means death. And because sin separates us from God, forgiveness is what we need most. We receive forgiveness of our sins when we turn away from them toward Jesus in faith. God wants that message to go out across the whole globe.

Prayer: Lord, so many people don’t even know what’s wrong in the world. They don’t know their main problem is that they don’t have a relationship with the living God. Please open their eyes to see that such a connection is possible through Jesus. And grant that more laborers would go out into the field to preach the good news, that more people would come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Amen.
